Gelsenkirchen, Germany - In a night of hard to spell words, Wladimir “Dr. Steelhammer” Klitschko (53-3, 47 KOs) took on Ruslan “White Tyson” Chagaev (25-1, 17 KOs) for the vacant Ring Magazine Heavyweight belt at Veltins Arena in front of 61,000 boxing fans. Klitschko was originally supposed to fight David Haye, who pulled out of the fight several weeks beforehand with an injury. Chagaev, whose fight with Valuev was cancelled, stepped up to the spontaneous challenge.
An aggressive start for Chagaev was halted in Round 2 when the much taller Klitscko stunned his opponent with a hard straight right hand and suffered a flash knockdown. Chagaev struggled against the Russian’s powerful one-two combos that found their way through the underdog’s guard repeatedly. It was a typically predictable Klitscko fight, although Wladimir looks smoother than his most recent fights. Emmanual Stewart should have been pleased with what his saw from his fighter. Chagaev gave a good effort for several round before his trainer ended the fight after the 9th.
Stewart obviously feels safe training a fighter like Klitchko because nobody can challenge him besides his brother, Vitaly, who he has vowed never to fight. He couldn’t win with Jermain Taylor and has slipped into the shadows of arguably the heavyweight division’s most boring fighter in recent histoy.

I enjoyed this summary.

perhaps we will now see Vitali fight David Haye instead of Wlad.
Lots of fight being calls off lately.
FYI King Arthur Abraham is back in action this Saturday night on showtime live from Germany.
