Sports Blog: East Coast vs. West Coast

About

MG Sports Talk is a grassroots sports talk program. We bring a West Coast vs. East Coast perspective and we cover all your favorites.

Its Thursday and the weekend starts now. Let’s see what’s poppin in the world of sports…

Sports Betting In Delaware
Congress in the First State aka Delaware became the 4th state in the country to legalize sports betting. Oregon, Nevada and Montana all currently share the same privilege. FINALLY! The east coast now has an outlet to (legally) satisfy their sports gambling needs outside the racetrack. It won’t be long before other hard-headed states wake up and follow in Delaware’s footsteps. Just wait til the greedy politicians see the revenue brought in by this new development. Hey Schwarzenegger, clean the steroid residue out of your head and make some moves!

The Terminator

Preakness Mania! Right?
Ok, the Kentucky Derby is over and you’re out of disposible income. Don’t let that horse racing flame die out. Afterall, there’s a 50-1 horse , Derby winner Mine That Bird, trying for the Triple Crown this year. Get a marker from your favorite bookie (whats the worst that could happen?) and tune into NBC this Saturday for the second leg of the Triple Crown from Pimlico in Baltimore. The hype is around undefeated philly Rachel Alexandra who is an early 8-5 favorite. After Mine The Bird’s surprise win 2 weeks ago…my money isĀ on a longshot.

Lakers, Celts Could Advance Tonight
After cruising over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers look to advance to the Western Conference Finals tonight when they take on their conference foe in Houston. Again without Yao Ming, the Rockets will face an uphill battle against the West’s best.

In Orlando, Dwight Howard is feeling the pressue after guaranteeing a series win against talent-laden Boston. The Magic face a 3-2 series deficit going into game 6 tonight. I hope Orlando can pull this one off. I’m sick of watching Kevin Garnett bounce around the Celtics bench all night. Somebody put a dunce cap on this guy and make him sit in the corner until the Playoffs are over.

Game 7 Galore in the NHL Playoffs
Even though many fans in Southern California are NOT able to watch the game, the Anaheim Ducks, the low seed in the Western Conference look to take out the Detroit Red Wings tonight in Hockeytown. Already down 1-0, its not going to be easy against the lone remaining California playoff team (in hockey, that is). Fox Sports Net West is easily the most disgraceful excuse for a sports network on the face on the planet. No wonder people out here say “f it” and just go surfing. THE NETWORKS SUCK. The Boston Bruins take on the Carolina Hurricanes from the TD BankNorth Garden in a second game 7. Pesky Carolina can surprise yet another favored team in yet another game 7, just like they beat the Devils several miserable weeks ago.

Paulus Is Dumber Than He Looks
Duke inbred and reject basketball bench warmer, Greg Paulus, has decided (ha) to use his remaining collegiate eligibility to play football for Syracuse (yes, Syracuse has a football team…sort of). I can’t wait to see West Virginia LB Reed Williams lay the Dukie out come October 10 in the Carrier Dome. Hey, how much worse can it get when you already look like this…

an abortion gone wrong?
