Just 48 hours after Sports Illustrated reported on New York Yankees’ 3rd baseman Alex Rodriguez being one of 104 MLB players testing positive for performance enhancing drugs in a 2003 test, the highest paid player in baseball has come clear. In an effort to avoid a Roger Clemens-type grilling, Arod admitted to ESPN’S Peter Gammons that he did indeed take steroids from 2001 to 2003. The truth was in the report. Bud Selig knew, the Player’s Union knew and more so than anyone else, Arod knew.

It’s clear that Rodriguez took the right approach in quickly coming forward in response to these most recent allegations. Similar to Jason Giambi some years back, Arod bit the bullet and will have to handle the social consequences that come with is. Meanwhile, Clemens destroys his legacy and embarrasses himself with each denial, dragging things on and wasting everyones time. In a 2007 interview with Katie Couric, Arod told a different story, calmly denying the use of any performance enhancing drug ever, making today’s confession that much more difficult. But does anybody really feel bad for this guy?

Its a lesson to be learned by all…character makes the man.

  1. Hahaha, what a loser. He should have kept taken them. Maybe he would get a postseason hit or two, hahahahah.
